Pomelo's mission is to increase financial access and empowerment
for immigrants and their loved ones back home.We are proud to be
the first financial technology platform to combine consumer credit
and global remittances. Our product solves the worst aspects of
money transfer by empowering our customers to use credit rather
than cash. At the same time, we help immigrants establish their
financial future in their new country by building positive credit
history with their existing remittance obligations and financially
include their loved ones in emerging economies with access to
modern financial instruments.We're a team of -45 and are growing

more.Your RoleAs a senior product designer, your role will be to
create wonderful experiences that unify user needs and business
outcomes. You will be responsible for creating clear, easy to use,
and delightful product experiences that help our customers and
build trust over time. You will be working across the entire
customer journey, from potential customers first learning about
Pomelo to returning customers who rely on us for their money
transfer needs. You will be adept at developing designs that are
guided by customer insights and data, whether they be qualitative
research or experiment results.This is an individual contributor
role that reports directly to the VP of Product and will work
closely with our Lead Product Designer. As the company's second
product designer, you will have an active role in helping to build
and shape Pomelo's design culture and processes.Although your
primary responsibility is product design, we want you to be a voice
for all design at Pomelo, including marketing- and brand-related
design. You will work with other teams throughout the company,
acting as a trusted partner to counterparts in product management,
engineering, growth, marketing, and analytics, among others.Primary
Responsibilities
- Think holistically about complex systems, empathize with users,
and understand business goals to create insightful, compelling,
effective, and delightful consumer experiences.
- Create and validate designs through sketches, prototypes, and
testing, determine the information architecture and flow for your
product features, create high-fidelity visuals and specifications
for your final solutions, and work with colleagues to ensure
quality implementation and user experience.
- Work effectively in a fast paced, collaborative environment
with colleagues such as product managers, engineers, growth
marketers, and analysts to identify, prioritize, and build highly
impactful experiences.
- Help build and maintain our design system and advocate for
design solutions that scale designs from discovery through
delivery, leveraging the right tools at the right moments to make
the most significant impact.
- Help build and shape the design culture, processes, and use of
tools.
- Be a passionate champion for design who proactively finds
opportunities, form an opinion on them, and advocates to get them
built.The requirements
- Minimum 6+ years of professional work experience in an
individual contributor role as a product designer.
- An outstanding portfolio, showcasing a depth of knowledge in
user experience, interaction, and visual/user interface design for
consumer products.
- Experienced in designing for user-facing fintech products.
- Experienced at taking a design project from discovery and
iteration through delivery and shipping of high-quality
experiences.
- Understands the end-to-end process required to deliver great
design but able to flex and modify the process depending on project
and team context.
- Experienced in driving research and using qualitative and
quantitative data to make good design decisions.
- Able to collaborate effectively with product designers, product
managers, engineers, and other cross-functional team members.
- Relentless, scrappy, and highly adaptable in the face of new
constraints and challenges in a dynamic early stage startup
environment.
- Able to identify tradeoffs and make good decisions on what can
be done now vs later and to strike a meaningful balance between
quality vs. speed.
- Excellent communicator who can explain, educate, and persuade.
Able to present effectively, lead meetings, and write with clarity
to drive understanding.
- Strong leadership and team mindset.
- Systems thinker who connects the different aspects of the
customer experience and creates cohesiveness throughout the
product.
- Strong craft from a visual, interaction, written, and systems
perspective.
- Superb design judgment and taste.
- B.A/B.S. in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction,
Computer Science, or a related field/equivalent experience.
- Previous experience with money transfer, consumer credit, or
consumer fintech products.
- Previous experience working in an early-stage startup.Benefits
